Three Discharging Incidents Linked in Bailey’s Crossroads

Mason Police District – Detectives are continuing to investigate three firearm discharge incidents resulting in property damage and injury over the past six months. All three incidents have occurred in the Bailey’s Crossroads area within parking lots near the 5500 block of Leesburg Pike.

The first incident occurred on the evening of July 16 in a parking lot in the 5500 block of Leesburg Pike. On that day, officers responded after a community member reported his vehicle had been struck by an unknown projectile. The vehicle received damage consistent with what detectives believed to be gunfire. The owner of the vehicle stated they was leaving a car meet-up in the area before the incident occurred.  One person in attendance sustained a minor and non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The second incident occurred at 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 23 when officers responded to the 3500 block of South Jefferson Street, just west of the 5500 block of Leesburg Pike, after two community members advised their cars had been struck by gunfire. No one was injured during this incident.

At 8:46 p.m. on Dec. 28, officers were in a parking lot in the 5500 block of Leesburg Pike where a car meet-up was ongoing. After clearing the parking lot, officers discovered several vehicles were struck and two people in attendance sustained minor and non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives preliminarily suspect all three incidents to be related.
