Derek I use a bit with a piece of fuel line on end and other on valve to protect valve stem. But i will say both ways are 100% redneck. My way is no better than yours. We would have worked well together because my grandpa taught me like you. So anything goes. Yep i am a master mechanic with extreme trailing in shade tree rednecken abilities. Enjoy every show on everything and anyting. Retired now. Finished my 1971 Elcamino but took 20+ years to do it right. STOCK almost. Lol keep up the saving of old vehicles. Just diagnosed and your show reminds me of the old days. Buy a car fix up and give away to needy families.
I thoroughly enjoy Dereks videos, no matter the formula. But, oh dear, its getting harder to watch them due to the incessant adverts! All the popular channels are the same. I know revenue comes from adverts but that doesn't alter the facts.
Ah HA! So he HAS been saying "Cheek Poker" all of these years! (I couldn't tell whether it was "Cheek Poker" as in "a wire will break off and stab your face" or "Cheat Poker" (which makes way less sense, but a lot of these aphorisms only make sense due to deep lore, like maybe some Good ol' boy was like "You just poke it in yonder and it cleans up so much so fast it feels like cheatin' " )
Have i missed something in the past? The workshop has that black 'stuff' all over the walls and i was wondering if Derek had moved or just had insulation put on the walls? It makes it a very dark space to be in. Videos are still top drawer thoughππ»ππ»ππ»
Iβm glad to know that Iβm not the only one that uses a drill on the valves. i chuck the lapper up in the drill. It has to be correct correct if Derek does it!!!
I shouldn't have committed to taking a shot every time the left blinker came on

My dad used to work on flat head lawnmower engines. He used to have a hand crank valve lapping tool.
