  1. I really hope my taxes weren't used to fund this experiment 😡 what problem did this study solve? I understand people "want" to know everything about everything… but give me a break. "Cocain fish" can wait. Lets answer the questions that can help people the most…. and then after all the people are ok then we can start discovering answers to questions nobody asks.

  2. Most plants create exotic alkaloids for a reason. Caffeine is an insecticide so is nicotine. Humans are evolved from animals that were mostly herbivores so we have a lot of ways to neutralize these alkaloids. Fish aren’t even the targets of these alkaloids so I’m curious what the effects of these on invertebrates are.

  3. My question now … do fish get withdrawals? Does that change how they move and how they reproduce? And does it translate to when we eat the fish, do we consume the drugs they did, in just teeny tiny portions?

  4. Of the top 10 cities with the most c*caine in the water 3 are in The Netherlands (3rd, 6th and 7th), 2 in Belgium (1st and 4th), all 10 in Europe. So 5 out of 10 are in Dutch speaking regions incl. my city of Rotterdam (7th). Fak, poor fish…
(Rotterdam is biggest harbour in Europe, followed by Antwerp in Belgium… so it makes sense that the use is more near the places it arrives at.)

  5. Ok, this was a funny coincidence. I randomly got this short recommended to me, find out it was done in Sweden, and then one of the credits at the end is Tomas Brodin who supervised my thesis at Umeå university.
