I saw a clip on a hit and run crash in Florida where the truck driver that was killed did absolutely nothing wrong but the American idiots in the cars got his steer tire and murdered him.
I don't have a CDL but I hauled grain for two weeks loading the truck to 80k lbs by my own guestimating and I learned to drive the truck in 3 days. It was perfectly legal and still is for farms.
When you drove through cities in a big truck behind other big trucks you are having to rely on the safe driving if the truck ahead of you because safe following distance for a loaded truck is not possible. Cars will always fill the gap. S9 something really stupid could have happened up ahead and most likely did. Why was the truck he hit at a stop on the highway?
These trucks aren't tanks. When the bumper and frame are cleared shoving the engine back and crushing the cab are nothing.
