MAKKAH — The inspection campaign carried out by the Makkah Mayoralty has resulted in the closure of more than 1300 workshops and warehouses in the holy city after detection of their violations. During the period from Nov. 8 to 25, the mayoralty teams carried out 6,046 field inspections and regulatory procedures.
The campaign resulted in the closure of 783 unlicensed workshops and 530 illegal warehouses. Additionally, 1,544 restaurants were inspected along with 1,411 grocery stores and 1,203 food trucks so as to ensure their compliance with health regulations. The officials issued 232 notices to rectify violations. The inspectors also monitored 343 stalls in public markets.
The comprehensive field campaign titled “Makkah Corrects,” aimed at raising compliance levels and regulating the work environment in workshops, warehouses, and markets in the holy city. The mayoralty stated that these inspections are part of its ongoing plans to monitor commercial and service activities, raise compliance levels, and reduce violations that breach regulations or threaten public safety.
The mayoralty affirmed that the campaign will continue with an intensive field schedule covering all neighborhoods, markets, and work sites to guarantee a safe and organized operating environment and achieve the highest quality of life standards in the holy city.
