My review and thoughts on Dress-up Jobs: Shoes
This is a fun picture book with some great illustrations. Jin loves to dress up and try on various types of shoes. When he puts on a different pair of shoes he can have any job he wants. What shoes will he try on today and what job are they for? The paperback is filled with glossy pages of some very fun illustrations and text.

For every day of the week Jin puts on a different pair of shoes and asks the reader what those shoes might be for. When you turn the page you see Jin working at that particular job, for example, some very sturdy wellies are for working on a farm. Every day of the week, Jin has a different job based on the shoes he’s wearing and there are a couple of pages, one double, showing Jin at work (in those shoes) with lots of fun illustrations depicting various aspects of the job.

I like how this book goes, with Jin first showing us the shoes he’s going to wear and kids finding out on the next page what those shoes are for. The double pages showing Jin and lots of others at work on the farm (or other places) and are all very fun to look at. Each illustrations has lots of detail and extra words dotted around the page, pointing to various equipment and things on a farm for example the ‘trough’, ‘sheep feed’ and ‘sheepdog’, helping kids learn new words.

On the last two days of the week, Saturday and Sunday, there are two extra special jobs, ones that are still jobs but that are a little more interesting and fun. Overall this is a very fun picture book which introduces children to lots of different jobs in a fun way through looking at different shoes. I’m sure many kids will enjoy trying to guess what job each pair of shoes is for and will enjoy dressing up and imagining themselves in many of the different jobs too.
