Description
Spicy Deviled Eggs are an elevated version of classic deviled eggs made with a chipotle mayo filling. Smoky, spicy, and delicious, they’re a nutritious party appetizer or snack that’s easy to make!
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water (about 1 inch above the eggs). Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover, turn off the heat, and let sit for 10-12 minutes. Transfer eggs to an ice bath for at least 5 minutes to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
- Peel the cooled eggs and slice them lengthwise. Gently remove the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl. Mash the yolks with a fork until crumbly.
- Make the Filling. In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, chipotle sauce, ground mustard, garlic, 1 teaspoon lime juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper until smooth. Add the seasoned mayo mixture to the yolks and mash until creamy and well combined. Use an immersion blender for an extra smooth filling, if desired.
- Assemble & Garnish. Scoop or pipe the filling into the egg whites. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro or green onion and red pepper flakes. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to eat.
- Store assembled deviled eggs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Notes
Flavor and Texture Tips – When doubling the recipe (12 eggs), add salt gradually—¼ teaspoon at a time—to avoid over-salting. If the filling seems too dry, mix in an extra ½ tablespoon to 1 tablespoon of mayo and a splash of lime juice for a smoother consistency. For an ultra-creamy texture, blend the filling with a hand mixer or food processor.
Substitutions: Swap chipotle sauce for ½ teaspoon chipotle seasoning or your favorite hot sauce. Use our homemade chipotle mayo or a store-bought spicy mayo as a substitute for the mayo + chipotle sauce combo.
Storage & Prep Tips: Hard-boil the eggs in advance and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days before making the deviled eggs. Prepare the filling up to a day ahead and refrigerate in an airtight container.
