Xiaomi HyperConnect app suggests HyperOS 3 development is underway

Xiaomi HyperConnect app update hints that Android 16-based HyperOS 3 development is underway. Even though the company has not mentioned any details about the upcoming major upgrade, a few clues have started emerging online.

The Chinese phone maker has released a new app update for the Xiaomi HyperConnect or Device Interconnectivity Services. The update brings a few improvements to the app, making it more stable and reliable for Xiaomi device owners.

Although this update’s version begins with 17.00.01. This app build hints that the HyperOS 3.0 development is in full swing, and Xiaomi will launch it soon.

Let’s understand the theory behind this clue.

HyperOS 1 is renamed yet a better software version of MIUI 15. It has apps upgraded to the V15 version. HyperOS 2 (which is said to be named MIUI 16) followed the same sequence and came with apps versioned V16.

The next major upgrade, HyperOS 3, will probably be a renamed version of MIUI 17. In that sense, the new HyperConnect app update starting with V17 is a HyperOS 3 app update.

According to XiaomiTime, HyperOS 3.0 might start rolling out in October this year. The schedule is in line with the earlier major software rollouts of the company.

It further highlights that the new HyperOS 3 version will be available with two skins: Android 16-based for flagship devices and Android 15-based for eligible models.
