Intellectual property right (IPR) regimes are playing a critical role in fostering innovation strengthening economic growth and fair competition. It has helped to incentivize research and development by providing exclusive rights to inventors and creators.
A strong IPR ecosystem is essential for economic development by promoting investment and encouraging domestic entrepreneurship especially with the ever evolving technologies. Strengthening copyrights, patents, trademarks, geographical indications, etc. helps to protect against unfair competition by limiting counterfeit products.
This assists in strengthening consumer trust and encourages companies to invest in research for providing quality products. Strong domestic IPR regimes also help to attract and promote international trade and are essential for sustainable development. Protection of traditional knowledge and geographical indications contributes towards environmental protection, and ensuring community development.
To further enhance and strengthen intellectual property and international collaboration it is essential to encourage settlement of disputes through alternative means. Protection of IP has incentivized research and innovation while indigenous communities care able to protect and benefit from their traditional knowledge or Geographical indication.

Submission Guidelines for Authors
- Word Limit: Full papers should be between 3000 – 6000 words, including footnotes.
- Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 pt. font for the main text and 10 pt for footnotes.
- Margins: 2.54 cm on all sides (normal).
- Citation Style: Bluebook 21st Edition.
- File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx).
- Embed all figures, tables, and images within the document and cite them consecutively in the text. Ensure each table has a descriptive title and that units are specified in column headings where applicable.
- The submission should be in English.
- A maximum of two co-authors are permitted.
- The full Paper should be submitted with a plagiarism report.
- Authors must ensure their work is original and reflects their own intellectual contributions, with up to 10% similarity allowed for properly cited quotations, statutes, case laws, and primary sources.
- The abstract should be 300 words with a minimum of five (5) keywords and must be accompanied by a cover page with the authors short CV.
- There will be the following three contents in one-word document:
- Author’s short Bio data
- Self-Declaration letter stating that the chapter/research paper is original work and has not been published anywhere or has not been sent for publication anywhere else.
- Chapter/Research Paper with title and abstract.
- Contributors are requested to email their research papers to monicakharola08@gmail.com and aditya15tomar@gmail.com with the subject line as Intellectual Property Rights: Emerging Issues and Challenges. Please note that the deadline for submission of the complete chapter is 30th July, 2024.
- Full papers that are selected will be published with ISBN number in Hardbound.
- There is no Publication Charges; authors who request for hard copies will get based the actual cost fixed. The proposed book will be published by a reputed publisher with ISBN as a hard-bound copy.

About the Editors
Dr. Monica Kharola is a distinguished academician and Associate Dean at ICFAI Law School, , The ICFAI University Dehradun, with over 18 years of teaching experience and six years of industry exposure. Her areas of specialization include Public International Law, Human Rights, and Family Law. Dr. Kharola has an extensive portfolio of scholarly publications and has edited several books in her fields of expertise. Before her academic career, she practiced law at the Delhi High Court and the Dehradun District Court. She has also served at the esteemed Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), further adding to her diverse professional experience.
Ms. Monika Kothiyal is an experienced professional with a strong background in both academics and Assistant Professor at ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University Dehradun. She has 5 years of experience in teaching various legal subjects, including Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act), Family Law, Constitutional Law, and has particular expertise in Environmental Law. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Environmental Law, focusing on advanced research in this domain. Additionally, she has 4 years of hands-on experience practicing law in the Dehradun District Court, further solidifying her practical understanding of the legal framework and judiciary processes. Her combined academic and professional experiences make her a versatile legal scholar and practitioner.
Mr. Aditya Kumar Tomar is an accomplished professional with expertise in both academia and Assistant Professor at ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University Dehradun. With three years of teaching experience, he specializes in Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Laws, and Constitutional Law, with a particular focus on Intellectual Property Rights. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Law, concentrating on advanced research in this domain.
In addition to his academic endeavours, Mr. Tomar has two years of practical experience practicing law at the Delhi High Court, enhancing his in-depth understanding of the legal framework and judicial processes. His combined academic and professional expertise positions him as a well-rounded legal scholar and practitioner.
