There’s Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and even Grandparent’s Day, but did you know there’s also a day for single parents?
March 21 is National Single Parent Day, first celebrated in 1984 when President Ronald Regan signed Proclamation 5166. It’s a day to “recognize the contributions single parents are making, sometimes under great hardship.”
Here at Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, we champion single parents every day. And now, in the lead-up to National Single Parent Day, we invite you to join us in recognizing their incredible strength and resiliency.
Here are three ways you can celebrate single parents:
1. Write a note of encouragement
Lift up a single parent student by emailing a few words to info@aspsf.org. We’ll share your message directly with a recipient.
2. Watch a Single Parent Share Their Journey
We’ll release new videos of recipients on our blog and social media in the time leading up to March 21. Watch the first video here (and maybe send it to a single parent you know or post on your social media)!
3. Make a Donation
We’ve set a goal to raise $2,000 to help one single parent student with a full-time scholarship and support services. With a $24 gift — in honor of National Single Parent Day 2024 — you can help provide vital resources to help single parents students succeed. Plus, every gift will be matched thanks to a generous donor!
Together, let’s show our appreciation for single parents!
