A small lark found in the desert regions of India, and also found across from North Africa to Middle East. This looks exactly like the common Ashy Crown Sparrow lark that is so common in the rest of the country – except for the black crown.
We found the behaviour also very similar and their foraging habits on the ground and sand, and flight – all very recognizable. The female too is quite similar and if not for a male nearby, we would have incorrectly concluded the id. The birds are usually seen in flocks of 10 or more foraging in the sand or dry areas. They often come in the way of the vehicle in the desert. Couldn’t get a decent shot on the ground, so managed this one on the fence.
Many thanks in advance for your views and feedback – much appreciated.
