Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract. Peri-anal complications of CD, which include peri-anal fistulas, abscesses, fissures, and anal canal stenosis (together referred to as peri-anal Crohn’s disease; pCD), occur in at least 25% of CD patients.1 Patients with pCD have a more aggressive form of CD. Indeed, pCD is associated with an increased risk of requiring surgery and worse mental and sexual health.
