This is why I shoot raw, shoot Nikon, and prefer the D750 and D810 over any other bodies.

This concertgoer was in the front row for Rihanna the other night, and I’ve never seen anyone so passionate. With only 30 seconds to shoot both the artist AND get a fan shot, I quickly turned around and snapped a frame of this guy and immediately had to turn back to shooting Rihanna. There was no time to change settings. Hell, there was barely time enough to cover the act I was there for!

Seriously, though. Those clean shadows and tamed highlights even when pushed +4.33 stops in post are just magic. People shouldn’t pretend that accidents don’t happen, or that we should "just be better photographers", or that we always have the time to prevent issues. There is a reason we use the tools we use. I didn’t have a choice in my conditions, and I had to create the image.
