‘Home Alone’ Meets ‘Saw’ in Saturday Night Live’s Brutal Alternate Ending to the Holiday Classic
“Saturday Night Live” celebrated the holidays with this year’s Christmas special over the weekend, and the episode continued a tradition of putting a bloody spin on a Christmas classic.
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol took an unexpectedly gruesome turn back in 2022, and “Saturday Night Live” gave a similar treatment to 1990’s Home Alone in the latest episode.
Host Ariana Grande played Kevin McCallister in the pre-taped sketch video, which played out like an alternate ending to Home Alone. Kevin’s family returns home to find that Kevin’s brutal traps for Harry and Marv are still very much armed, and things get far bloodier than they ever actually got in the Home Alone movies when they’re brutally dispatched one-by-one.
It’s the warmth of Home Alone meets the twisted gore of the Saw franchise, and no one – not even Old Man Marley – is safe from Kevin’s chainsaws, blow torches, and nail guns.
