The commission client asked me to make a pair of dolls inspired by Madonna’s song Erotica. It was so curious to notice that a song I had loved so much as a teenager was so obviously kinky. I don’t think I understood enough English at the time to even understand the lyrics.
I concept was to make a pair of Dominant and submissive partners: Mistress Dita (person speaking in the song) and the person being spoken to: the submissive, who I names Anais /after Anais Nin who wrote the book Erotica). First my mind conjured up images or pain and runny mascara, but as I researched faces in pain and it seems the face of extreme pain and the moment of orgasm are the same. So I gave Anais her bruises, welts and rope marks that come from her play, but also a face lit up with angelic bliss.
For the first photoshoot only Anais was done, so she had Chocolate Nnaji doll for her to play with while waiting for Dita to be finished. Through the photoshoot I tried to convey the sensations, the intense sensuality, connection and caring, the surrender into a hypnotic trance that I felt in the song. I researched Japanese rope art of Kinbaku for this project, to try and made the miniature rope as accurate as possible.
Dita, the mistress was finished with irezumi tattoos and body mod lacing piercings. I also made a miniature wax play candle and a pair of hands smeared with the wax for her. I tried to convey the consensual beautiful side of kink in this very adult commission work.
