
Lovely. My first homemade pizza dough came out crisp, thin And yummy.
I trued a "gourmet" style pizza, with grilled onions and mushrooms, mozzarella and goat cheese. Next time I will add red sauce-otherwise it seems to dry.
The recipe can be premixed in a bread machine or my method: a food processor using the dough hook. I rolled out the dough and hand stretched it, folding the edges for a "thick" crust. Also froM the recipe I substituted a half cup if cornmeal for flour. While tasty, it was a very firm texture. Next time I’ll stick to the original ingredients for a try.
With the amount of pizza we like to eat, I will have time to improve the recipie to our families taste buds.
Pizza dough
1 cup warm water – 100 to 110 degrees F (40 to 45 degrees C)2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or replace w 1/2 cup corn meal)
1/2 teaspoon salt1/4 teaspoon white sugar1 teaspoon active dry yeast2 teaspoons olive oil
Pour the warm water into the pan of the bread machine,
and add the flour on top of
the water. Sprinkle with salt
and sugar, and top with the yeast. Set the machine on
the dough setting, and push
the start button. When the machine signals that the
dough is finished, transfer
to a well-floured work surface.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Roll or stretch the dough
out into thin crust about 14 inches across. Leave dough thick at the edge. Place the dough onto a 14-inch pizza baking sheet, and brush the dough with the olive oil.
Bake in preheated oven for
5 minutes before removing
to top with desired ingredients for final baking.
DIRECTIONS
SOME PIZZA TOPPING IDEAS.
Caramelised onions and roasted
garlic.
Mozzarella cheese, Camembert,
Romano and Feta (for a really, really cheezy pizza!).
Equal parts of basil pesto and olive
oil mixed together with Parmesan or Romano cheese.
Plus some roughly chopped sundried or SEMI-dried tomatoes, sliced black
olives and LOTS of grated
Mozzarella cheese, salt and lost of
freshly ground black pepper!
Cranberry jelly, shredded chicken,
sliced Brie!
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
chicken and sliced avocado!
THE BREAD.
Place all the above ingredients in the order I have listed into the bread
machine.
Select the dough cycle and press
start!
When the dough cycle is complete,
take the dough out of the machine
and place in well greased bowl, and
roll the dough around (in the bowl)
thus ‘coating’ it in oil.
Cover and leave to rise in a warm
place for about 1/2 an hour.
Knead the risen dough lightly.
To shape and bake: roll the dough
into a circle.
Place on well greased baking tray
or pizza pan.
Then add a topping of your choice
and bake at 225’C.
NOTE: for a nice crisp and very thin
pizza, bake BEFORE adding the
topping AND after!
