Macro Mondays Group theme: "When I was a kid… "
… I kept a scrapbook. It wasn’t like those fancy scrapbooks that people make today… mine is just those manilla pages with stuff taped and glued and stapled in. I saved EVERYTHING (does that surprise you? No, of course it doesn’t!! lol!!) I saved everything from age 10, right through to college graduation. And for those of you that are always saying I should write… well, my college internship paper…. "The Correlation between Aging and Membrane Lipid Composition" … well, that’s in there too. Now there’s a fascinating topic, huh?…and no, don’t ask me today what the correlation actually is! That was a long long time ago. I do recall that research was a slow process and I hooked a rug and did a lot of crossword puzzles while I was conducting that research…and also used the services of the hospital at CMDNJ when I had a centrifuge mishap and ended up with freeze dried Neurospora cells in my eye and drove home with a patch on my eye that day. Also, my speech from high school graduation where I tied together lyrics from the songs we sang at the graduation ceremony (lol!!) and the notice that I was receiving the Sterling Silversmiths of America Award presented to the top student in the field of Home Economics…. ok, anyone that REALLY knows me is rolling on the floor laughing now (Stop!! It was for sewing… and I could, indeed, sew! Cooking…. forget it! Still can’t cook… ) And the final thing glued in there…. a copy of the WPC Bio Alumni Newsletter where dear Dr. Rosengren told the present and past Biology students that, as a Senior Bio Student, one of my friends and I, both students of his, ran a 7 mile marathon. "They ran without conditioning and were passed rather early in the race by a 70 year old man." I have no clue what possessed me back then to run a marathon because I never ran a day in my life, but it was kind of Dr. Rosengren to point that out to the college Biology world!
Yup, it’s quite a gem that book, right down to me underlining my name in every news clipping. Oh God…. LOL!!
