Wyoming New York- Gaslight Village – Gaslight Cafe

Wyoming New York- Gaslight Village - Gaslight Cafe

The tiny village of Wyoming is full of historic places, and it is perhaps the known most for its historic downtown, Gaslight Village. Wyoming was built on a small natural gas field and provides gas for old-fashioned streetlamps and some homes. It is located about 45 minutes southwest of Rochester in Wyoming County.

The hamlet of Wyoming is small — just more than 500 people live there — so makes gaslights easy to find. There are gaslights in front of businesses, homes and churches, including the Methodist and First Baptist churches (Main Street), the post office (corner of South Academy Street and Gulf Road) and Dourie’s Groceries (South Academy Street).
