PXG Lightning Drivers (4 NEW Drivers For 2026 Reviewed)

PXG has added four new Lightning drivers to the USGA conforming list with the Max 10K, Max Lite, Tour Mid and Tour models unveiled in September 2025.

The Lightning models are the replacement for the Black Ops driver series, which all achieved 10K MOI for the first time.

PXG have made a switch to fit in with their rival brands by expanded the range on the Lightning series to offer a wider range of options.

The four models launched include the Lightning Max 10K for ultimate forgiveness, the Lightning Max Lite for golfers with slower swing speeds, the Lightning Tour Mid as an all-rounder and the Lightning Tour for low-spin options.

The Lightning drivers will be joined as a new addition with the PXG 0311 GEN 8 irons also launched in late 2025.

PXG Lightning Max 10K Driver Specs & Design

The Lightning Max 10K+ is the carry over from the Black Ops 10K technology and is the model that offers maximum forgiveness with the lineup’s highest MOI for straighter drives and maximum distance.

Suited for forgiveness seekers, it is set apart from other models in the PXG 2026 lineup by blending high MOI with tweakable performance for distance consistency from across the face.

It offers confidence-inspiring sound, all-conditions reliability and max forgiveness, and is suited to a range of handicaps and those seeking consistency, stability and adjustability.

The new Frequency Tuned Face maximizes energy transfer for quicker ball speeds and consistent feel, and it is complemented by an 84% larger carbon fiber chassis for superior strength-to-weight ratio and stability.

Another new design feature is the Spined Sole Design which reinforces the base for less vibrations on impact, while proprietary curvature tunes directionality even off-center strikes.

The Max 10K is more adjustable than other drivers in this sector with a 15g weight and two 2.5g weights on the sole that can be interchanged to find the perfect setup.

The Lightning Max 10K model is sold in 8 degrees, 9 degrees, 10.5 degrees and 12 degrees lofts with three degrees of adjustability.

PXG Lightning Max Lite Driver Specs & Design

The Lightning Max Lite is a lighter-weight variant of the Max 10K and is designed for golfers with moderate to slow swing speeds who need help extracting distance off the tee.

PXG have stripped back elements of the Max 10K to save weight, with the sole weights one of those features removed from the Max Lite to reduce overall weight by 14g.

Instead, it features a single 12.5g rear port weight for taking the center of gravity deep for more forgiveness, simplifying the Precision Weighting for maximum distance without complex tuning.

Frequency Tuned Face delivers efficient compression-synced vibrations for faster speeds and a more pleasing PXG sound, while high carbon content and Spined Sole enhance MOI and energy return.

The Max Lite, which is the next generation of the Black Ops Ultra Lite, comes in two loft options of 10.5 degrees and 11.5 degrees and has three degrees of adjustability.

PXG Lightning Tour Mid Driver Specs & Design

The Tour Mid model of the Lightning series is the more standard of the two “Tour” options and offers slightly more forgiveness than the Tour – suiting mid-to-low handicappers.

Very similar in design to the others in the series, this model has a lower launch and spin levels than the Max options but still has plenty of forgiveness to offer.

The Tour Mid has the two interchangeable 15g and 2.5g sole weight ports and features a tweak to the internal weighting and alter the setup options of the design.

The rear weight contributes to the Precision Weighting Technology to dial in CG for tailored flight bias, launch and spin across heel, toe or rear positions depending on setup preferences.

Frequency Tuned Face technology ensures efficient strikes with faster ball speeds, while there is up to 74% more carbon fiber in the crown and Spined Sole Design to help increase MOI and stability.

The Tour Mid driver is available in 8 degrees, 9.5 degrees and 10.5 degrees loft options with three degrees of adjustability.

PXG Lightning Tour Driver Specs & Design

Designed for accomplished players seeking precision, the Lighting Tour replaces the Black Ops Tour-1 model as the elite-level performer of the series.

The Lightning Tour targets fast-swinging, low-handicap players craving low spin and piercing trajectories.

The design features three weight ports loaded with two 7.5g front weights and one 2.5g rear for Precision Weighting Technology, enabling fine-tuned launch, spin and shot-shape bias up to 20g total mass shifts.

Central to its performance is the Frequency Tuned Face, engineered to vibrate in sync with ball compression for amplified energy transfer, faster ball speeds and PXG’s signature explosive sound across the face.

The new Spined Sole Design stiffens the chassis, optimizing energy return while the thin-wall carbon fiber crown, which is 67% larger than Black Ops, boosts MOI for stability without bulk.

Proprietary face curvature, meanwhile, enhances control on off-center strikes and eliminates distance-sapping side spin levels.

The Tour driver is available in 8 degrees, 9 degrees and 10.5 degrees and can be adjusted by up to three degrees.

PXG Lightning Drivers Review: Are they any good?

PXG have added another dimension to the range of drivers on offer in the Lightning with four models now available and serving different purposes for golfers.

From the Max Lite for golfers needing extra swing speed to the Tour for fast-swinging elite golfers wanting all-round workability and distance, they have something for everyone.

The new models all deliver additional ball speeds thanks to a new face design, more speed through the air with a revised sole and weighting and more consistency in striking. They look set for a big future in 2026.
