United Kingdom: Increase in Vento bands for discrimination injury to feelings award 2025
In brief
The Presidents of the Employment Tribunals (England & Wales and Scotland) have issued an addendum to the Joint Presidential Guidance on employment tribunal awards, updating the Vento bands for damages for injury to feelings and psychiatric injury in discrimination claims.
The new figures will apply for claims issued on or after 6 April 2025.
- The lower band (for less serious cases): GBP 1,200 to GBP 12,100.
- Middle band (for those cases which do not merit a higher award): GBP 12,100 to GBP 36,400.
- The upper band (the most serious cases): GBP 36,400 to GBP 60,700.
- An award of over GBP 60,700 may still be awarded in the most exceptional cases.
