Android 16 Beta 4 bug removes battery health feature, but here’s a fix

Android 16 Beta 4 welcomes many new features, but at the same time, the update comes with a nasty bug that removes certain existing tools, such as the Battery Health capability. But you can still bring it back to your device via a few steps.

Battery Health used to tell users about the overall condition and capacity of their phone’s battery. It shows how much the device’s battery can hold, compared to a new one, or the remaining capacity to perform well throughout the day.

It is an important feature in the device as it reveals the health and lifespan of your device’s battery. Although the new issues took away these benefits from users.

9to5Google noted first that the Battery Health page has disappeared on the Android 16 Beta 4 update, due to a bug. Many Pixel phone users reported the same issue, saying that they were unable to check the battery status.

Many users rebooted their devices and got back the Battery Health feature. But here’s a proper fix that won’t take back the respective page from your Pixel device.

Fix:

Pixel users need to update the Google Play Services app to the latest version 25.14.62. The numbers might be changed, however, this one trick can fix the battery health feature bug permanently. It may further improve the phone’s battery.

“After I installed Beta 4 yesterday, battery health stats disappeared for me just like many users. Today, I updated the Google Play Services app to v25.14.62, and battery health returned again on my Pixel 9 Pro XL, and also gone up from 95% to 96%.”Reddit user.

Apart from Battery Health, the update has also removed the screen-off fingerprint unlock feature that enabled users to unlock their Pixel via the fingerprint sensor even when the display is off. The company may more such issues in the next update.
