Huawei has pushed a new HarmonyOS 6 update for the Mate 80 series, which brings numerous upgrades to camera and other system features, while making some changes in the status bar for specific operations.
This new change is not mentioned in the changelog; instead, users spotted this after installation, calling it a silent upgrade and enhancing the user experience.

Previously, pulling down the notification center would display status bar icons. After the new update, the system will no longer display the icons except for the carrier information.
Users are calling this a creative idea, which makes the entire UI look harmonious when the user triggers the open animation. To be mentioned, the control panel is the same as before.
While hiding status bar icons is one thing, Huawei has a huge changelog of HarmonyOS 6 features, which you can check here.
