HarmonyOS PC supports Shield Guardian feature to avoid network attacks

Huawei has seeded many new features to its first HarmonyOS-based PC, for instance – Shield Guardian Mode. The new capability is inspired by the StarShield security architecture and ensures to protect the device from risky network attacks.

A complex network attack can exploit multiple vulnerabilities across a network for malicious outcomes. It can eventually lead to unauthorized access, steal data, or disrupt services. Although Huawei is bringing a solution in this case.

The company has introduced a new feature with HarmonyOS PC called the Shield Guardian mode. From the name, the feature can shield the devices from complex network attacks. All you have to do is – turn on the feature for an improved protection.

Note that enabling the new feature will automatically restart the device. It is recommended to back up data or save important files and media to a secondary device to avoid loss.

Once done, you can turn on the Shield Guardian feature. Under this mode, users can view or preview URL links or images received in the MeeTime app. One can’t auto-connect to a WLAN network that has an insecure protocol.

Apart from these restrictions, users would be unable to perform certain browsing features and network-related operations on selected web pages. To access:

  • Open the Settings app in the shortcut bar at the bottom of the home screen.
  • Select Privacy & Security
  • Click on the Shield Mode on the right side > Enable
  • Tap on “Open and Restart” to confirm the operation
