Huawei is an AI rival we can’t ignore and should respect, says Nvidia
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says that Huawei is a significant rival in the AI market and one must respect it. The company has been giving a tough spot to its competitors in the Chinese AI chip market despite the US trade export controls.
Jensen Huang recently attended a media interview, where he mentioned that Huawei is rapidly growing in the AI field and is appearing as the most powerful rival to Nvidia.
The CEO further believes that the US restrictions have opened gateways for the Chinese tech giant by blocking the supply of H20 chips in China. According to Jensen, preventing US-designed processors will eventually turn Chinese customers to the native tech firms like Huawei, SMIC, and more.
It’s not the first time that Nvidia has pointed out the loopholes in the US restrictions. The company has noted several times that the chip controls are only accelerating the rapid growth of its Chinese chipset rivals in the AI market.
On the other hand, Nvidia praised the Ascend chip maker, Huawei, for its powerful presence in the AI market despite US sanctions. During a media talk, he said:
“Huawei is undoubtedly one of the most powerful technology companies in the world. This is a rival we must highly value and fully respect. We must go all out and continue to innovate in order to stay ahead in this competition.”
Jensen noted that Huawei achieved good enough annual performance and unveiled the CloudMatrix AI chip tech that is capable of outperforming Nvidia products theoretically and is considered the most advanced AI system in the market.
The CEO believes that Huawei is now deeply integrating 5G and AI tech to enhance its products. The company is using a strategic direction to move ahead.
