Huawei Pocket 2 Premium Edition has different chipset and not Kirin 9010A

Huawei Pocket 2 Premium Edition Kirin chipset mystery is finally resolved. Although the chip is not what we were expecting so far. According to the latest information, the newly released vertical foldable version equips a Kirin 9010E processor.

A screenshot spotted on Weibo reveals that the Huawei Pocket 2 Premium Edition runs on the Kirin 9010E chipset. It is paired with the Maleoon 910 750MHz GPU.

The company introduced the Kirin 9010E with Pura 70 Satellite SMS last year. It is a 12-core processor (8 cores, 12 threads) and is a downclocked derivative of 9010.

Kirin 9010E contains two 2.19GHz large cores, six 2.18 medium cores, and four 1.55GHz small cores. It has 111MHz lower frequency than the original 9010 version.

Pocket 2 has a Kirin 9000s chip, which is slightly superior to the 9010E. But the difference between the main and the Premium models will probably seem negligible. Things will become clear after the real-time use of both folding handsets.

Meanwhile, you can check their CPU configurations below:

  • Kirin 9000s: 1 x Taishan core @ 2.62GHz + 3 x Taishan cores @ 2.15GHz + 4 x Cortex-A510 @ 1.53GHz.
  • Kirin 9010E: 1 x Taishan core @ 2.19GHz + 3 x Taishan cores @ 2.18GHz + 4 x Cortex-A510 @ 1.55GHz.

Huawei Pocket 2 Premium Edition foldable is now open for sale with a price drop of over 2000 yuan, compared to the original variant. On the flip side, the device is available at a subsidy worth 500 yuan. It comes in two storage options:

  • Pocket 2 Premium Edition (12GB + 256GB) – 4999 yuan
  • Pocket 2 Premium Edition (12GB + 512GB) – 5499 yuan

Rest of the features, such as the display, camera, internal parameters, and battery, are the same as the Pocket 2. The Premium Edition pre-installs HarmonyOS 4.3 but will soon upgrade to the major HarmonyOS NEXT version.

The company has already revealed the performance difference between the original Pocket 2 and the Premium Edition. Although the clarification relies on how the new device will perform in real-time and in different scenarios.
