
Huawei has confirmed that its old flagship Mate 40 series can support 5G-A network technology. After the latest HarmonyOS 5.0 software upgrade, the company is now considering another advanced technology support for the efficient models.
The company has been testing a 5.5G network on its smartphone since last year. Mate 70 Pro+ reportedly supports 5.5G network and offers seamless network speed and performance than the Mate 60 Pro flagship.
As of now, the Huawei Customer Service has confirmed that the Mate 40 series supports 5G-A network capabilities. While responding to a netizen regarding which Huawei phones can support a 5G-A network, an official moderator said:
“Xixi has found that the Mate 40 series (5G) products currently support 5G-A capabilities.”
Last month, the CEO of Huawei’s smart device business group implied the company is still considering major software upgrades for the Mate 40 series, such as HarmonyOS 5.0. (Read the full story HERE)

5G-A or 5G-Advanced (5.5G) offers improved network performance than traditional 5G technology. It delivers a peak downlink rate of up to 10 Gbps. It even supports synesthesia and AI to meet consumers’ needs and demand for a better network.
Note that the 5G-A is only compatible with the Mate 40 5G models and not the 4G ones.
Huawei Mate 40 series comes on the ground with a 5G Kirin 9000 chipset. It is one of the best camera phones with a 50MP main camera, a 20MP ultra-wide angle, and a 12MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom capability.
The Pro version of the Mate 40 lineup features a 6.76-inch OLED curved-edge display with a 90Hz refresh rate for excellent visuals. It has a 4400mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
