Today, Huawei announced to launch the first HarmonyOS PC device on 19 May. After one year of preparation, the company is finally ready to unveil the highly anticipated computer product and its operating system in the Chinese market.
On May 8, Huawei conducted a special HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Event to introduce the HarmonyOS PC operating system.
At the event, Huawei also revealed the first HarmonyOS PC model’s launch date – May 19 at 14:30. The company will unlock goodies like PC products for its consumers.
Huawei gave a small glimpse of the upcoming HarmonyOS-powered PC. It will feature an innovative user interface (UI), optimized software as well as hardware, powerful security, seamless connectivity, and smart AI integration.
HarmonyOS PC device: User Interface
Starting with the UI, HarmonyOS PCs will feature an innovative App Dock at the bottom. It is convenient hub that enables users to quickly access the most frequently used apps, files, and other important capabilities of the computer.
The list of default apps on the PC UI includes main applications: Settings, Browser, Gallery, Memo, Huawei App Store, File Management, and My Huawei app.

HarmonyOS PC device: Security
Security and Privacy Protection will be another significant segment in the HarmonyOS PC device. The company’s self-developed HarmonyOS kernel effectively prevents external risks and directly reduces high vulnerability attacks by 50%.
Further, the device uses system-level security protection for local data, app access, and data sharing. It encrypts and protects data via security hardware and a lock screen password. The best part is – even if someone removes the hard drive from the PC, they won’t be able to read files until the lock screen is unlocked.

HarmonyOS PCs will support native apps. These applications are secure as developers need to pass a real-name authentication before listing their apps on the AppGallery.
The company has also integrated a super privacy mode to the HarmonyOS PCs that turns off features like camera, mic, and location with one tap to avoid privacy risk.
HarmonyOS PC: Data Transfer
Large file transfers on computers often become a problem. But Huawei has made beneficial changes on this matter. The upcoming HarmonyOS PCs will support keyboard and mouse-sharing, multi-device collaboration, app continuation, and Huawei sharing.
Besides, the device supports large-bandwidth transmission with a cross-device file transfer rate of 160MB/s – the fastest in the industry to date. With Huawei Share, the device can conduct 1 to 4 data transmission tasks concurrently.
Other features of the HarmonyOS-powered PC will be unlocked on May 19.
