Huawei unveils MateBook X Pro 2024 Linux Edition notebook
Huawei has launched another “without Windows” notebook – MateBook X Pro 2024 Linux Edition. Just like other new editions, the latest PC is also available at a 300 yuan cheaper rate than the existing variant and has a Chinese national subsidy.
Early inputs revealed that Microsoft’s license to supply Windows to Huawei is about to expire. The company won’t renew the license following the U.S. sanctions.
As a result, Huawei is launching new Linux Editions for some select and existing PCs. Up to this point, the company has launched the Linux version for MateBook 14 and D 16. Now, it is bringing the new OS to the flagship MateBook X Pro.
The new Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 Linux Edition is available on VMall and JD.com. It is currently available in two storage variants at a price:
- MateBook X Pro Linux (Ultra7/16GB + 1TB) = 10399 yuan
- MateBook X Pro Linux (Ultra7/32GB + 1TB) = 11399 yuan
While purchasing the device, consumers will get a Chinese national subsidy discount of 2000 yuan. Thus, the starting price will become 8399 yuan. You can visit the Huawei Mall or tap HERE to purchase the device right away.

Speaking of the specifications, the product page reveals that there’s no difference in the key parameters or design of the MateBook X Pro Linux over the Windows Edition.
Note that the third-party Linux OS can’t operate software and games of any other operating system. It will further restrict to use of one-touch transfer or fingerprint startup under the Windows version. In case users install Huawei drivers, they can restore these features.
At the same time, Huawei added that users can install different operating systems on the device as per their needs. Though they have to purchase the respective OS by themselves.
Specifications
Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 features a 14.2-inch higher and bigger screen than Apple MacBook Air with 3120 x 2080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, 10-point touch, and 70% reduction in reflection.
The Linux Edition runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor. It packs a 70Wh battery with 140W fast charging capacity. The rest of the features are the same as the original variant.
