Huawei has scheduled the Watch 5 series global launch for May 15, and here is a new leak revealing some key specs of the Watch 5 Pro wearable, such as an advanced ECG sensor. Perhaps the OEM has many upgrades for its smartwatch this time.
Weibo tipster @RuigePlayDigital just said that the Huawei Watch 5 Pro will likely feature a new and advanced ECG sensor. Though the leak was deleted within a few minutes, raising doubts on its accuracy.
ECG (Electrocardiogram) sensor in smartwatches measures the electrical activity of the heart and can detect irregular heart rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation (Afib). It monitors the electrical signals and offers a more accurate assessment of heart health than traditional optical heart rate monitors.
The Chinese phone maker launched the first ECG-capable wearable – Watch D in 2021. Hereafter, the company began using the sensor in most of its wearable lineup.
It seems Huawei may upgrade the ECG capability with the Watch 5 Pro. As per global teasers, the company is integrating a new finger touch sensor into the upcoming smartwatches. Perhaps this integration is connected with the new ECG feature.
