Upcoming Huawei PCs to use enhanced HarmonyOS 5, ditching Windows
Huawei today revealed that the upcoming PCs will run HarmonyOS 5.0 OS instead of Windows. The latest software system will unlock surprising AI capabilities, security enhancements, and improve office efficiency to a whole new level.
One of the best segments in HarmonyOS 5 will be office efficiency. As per the official introduction, the upgraded Smart Office suite for Huawei PCs will bring:
- Seamless Collaboration with multiple devices
- Smart Experience – Harmony AI interaction
- Integrated Ecosystem – can link with any device
At the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication event, Huawei announced that the upcoming PCs will run HarmonyOS 5 instead of Windows.
The company has reshaped its self-developed software system for PCs. It includes three major aspects: Experience, Ecosystem, and Base. The base section consists of a high-performance Harmony kernel that better matches all scenarios.
It further supports precise resource supply, memory hybrid dynamic large pages, and low power consumption. It aims to offer a smoother, smarter, and safer experience.
Details say that the new HarmonyOS system for PCs is called ‘harmonious aesthetics and elegant interaction’. It unlocks intuitive interaction and a brand-new UI.

Speaking of security, the upgrade has real-name developer verification, app store signature authentication, improved permissions for screen recording and screenshots, as well as a super privacy mode to turn off the camera, mic, and location.
The company even introduced a chip-level encryption feature that keeps your data safe regardless of hard drive removal. One can’t access your files without unlocking the screen.

HarmonyOS 5.0 for PCs will provide three major enterprise solutions:

- Two Cloud Service Platforms: Enterprise Application Center and Enterprise Business Deployment Cloud
