Snoopy lovers, did you know that you can visit a Snoopy Café in Japan?
There’s a whole chain of Peanuts Cafés where you can dine with your favourite beagle.
As a lover of Snoopy and Woodstock from an early age, I knew I just had to visit.
So, here is my honest review of the Snoopy Café in Tokyo, or the Peanuts Café SUNNY SIDE Kitchen.

Where is the Snoopy Café in Japan?
It may surprise you to know that Japan is absolutely smitten with the adorable beagle Snoopy.
As he is kawaii, they are obsessed, and so you’ll find shops everywhere selling gifts inspired by the cartoon characters of Charles M. Schulz.
There is a Snoopy Museum in Tokyo featuring a café, as well as a chain of popular Peanuts Cafés in the cities of Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe.
They have a Peanuts Hotel and a Snoopy area in Universal Studios Japan, where you can step inside Charlie Brown’s house.
The Snoopy Café I visited was the Peanuts Café SUNNY SIDE Kitchen in Harajuku, a popular shopping area in Tokyo.

How to get to Peanuts Café SUNNY SIDE Kitchen
You can take the Tokyo metro to Harajuku Station and then walk down the famous Takeshita Shopping Street just opposite the exit.
This area is usually packed with people all day as it has lots of fun shops, food stalls and restaurants to discover.
Once you see the ¥100 store Daiso (like a pound shop), take a right, and you’ll find the Peanuts Café tucked away on a sleepy back street.
Although a little more difficult to find, I actually loved the quieter location.
It meant it wasn’t overly busy with tourists walking past all the time.

What is it like inside?
I loved how the Snoopy Café was so large, light and airy. As it’s set in a glass building, the natural lighting makes it bright and inviting.
It is floor-to-ceiling white, almost clinically so. But it was also fun as it felt like you had walked into a comic strip.
There is a lot of cute artwork of everyone’s favourite beagle on the walls, and some Woodstock neon signs.

Plus, the cushions and tables feature all your favourite characters from the Snoopy world. It’s a Peanuts fan’s dream come true.
They do have outside tables as well if the weather is warm. Look out for the cute dog house featuring two puppy beagles.

Snoopy private rooms
If you prefer, you can hire one of their Snoopy private rooms to make your visit extra special.
Each ‘room’ has its own colour, characters and theme. These are;
- Pink Room (Love)
- Yellow Room (Eat)
- Green Room (Life)
- Orange Room (Friend)
- White Room (Friend)
I particularly loved the look of the pink one, but it felt pretty silly to hire one for little ol’ me.
However, they are perfect if you have a group of friends, colleagues or loved ones who want a more intimate setting for your café experience.
These rooms cost an extra ¥2,100, which will be added to your bill. There is no reservation required.

What’s on the Snoopy Café menu?
You will be given a tablet by the host when you sit down that has the menu in Japanese, English and a handful of other languages.
You can then browse all the food and drink options and then add the items you’d like to your basket.
For a theme café, the menu is actually really good and a step above in terms of taste and presentation.
They have a variety of breakfast options like pancakes, doughnuts and a selection of egg toasts.
They also serve up some tasty soups, colourful salads and smoked salmon dishes.
However, as it was breakfast time on my visit, I knew I wanted to sample their signature Snoopy pancakes and a design latte!

Snoopy Pancakes
The thing that drew me to the Snoopy Café in the first place was their collection of Snoopy pancakes that you could order.
There are four options available that feature the characters of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Beagle Scout and Bell.
I decided to order Snoopy, and it was adorable and almost too cute to consume.
It was beautifully presented with fruit, a berry glaze and a small jug of syrup on the side.
I’m pleased to say that it wasn’t just style over substance either. The pancake was incredibly fluffy.
I was worried it would be overly sweet with the creamy topping, but it wasn’t at all.

Snoopy and Friends Latte Art
To wash down your pancakes, they also have a selection of Snoopy & Friends Design Latte’s that you can order.
These are Harajuku Store exclusives that you can only get here!
Again, the four options match the theme of the pancakes in Bell, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Beagle Scout.

I ordered a Snoopy design to go with mine, but you can just as easily mix and match.
They also had a scrummy looking Popcorn Tea Au Lai that looked good. Next time, I’ll try this.
I loved the fact that I received a free souvenir Peanuts Café placemat and postcard. Also, the comic strip napkins were the cherry on top.

Don’t forget to browse the Snoopy gift shop
After your kawaii coffee, you can take your receipt to the counter to pay your bill. But I wouldn’t leave without browsing their gift shop.
The Peanuts Café have a range of adorable themed gifts to take home with you.
You can find exclusive Snoopy plushies, notebooks, water bottles, badges, keychains and mugs.
They even have their own Gachapon machine to play with Snoopy capsule toys for your collection.

Do you need to reserve the Peanuts Café SUNNY SIDE Kitchen?
I didn’t reserve a table and got seated straight away, but I did visit on a weekday at opening time (9 am).
I was the only person in the café for a good 45 minutes or so, as nothing had opened in Harajuku yet. Most things tend to open at 10 / 11 am.
However, I highly recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment.
This will be especially important if you’re visiting in the evening or on a weekend, as these periods will be far busier.

Is the Snoopy Café in Tokyo worth visiting?
Yes, I thought that the Snoopy Café was worth visiting in Japan.
As a lover of Snoopy and friends from an early age, the entire experience was a childhood dream come true.
Not only is the menu adorable, but it’s also incredibly tasty at a reasonable cost.
If you love Snoopy or kawaii cartoon characters, you must visit the Peanuts Café SUNNY SIDE Kitchen in Harajuku.

Even more fun things to do in Harajuku
Takeshita Shopping Street is the main thoroughfare of Harajuku and has so many exciting shops to discover.
One of my favourites was Wiggle Wiggle Zip, a riot of colour and sound. There are fun photo opportunities to be found on the second floor.
You can also visit the peaceful Togo Shrine above this street. No photos are allowed, but they sell a Hello Kitty goshuin and amulets.

Just around the corner, you can visit the whimsical Anakuma Café. Here, there are no humans, but you get a coffee served to you by a bear paw.
The Meiji Jingu Shrine is a short walk away and is a moment of calm in the chaos. You can visit the temple and see the famous sake barrels.

The new Harry Potter shop in Harajuku is nothing short of magical, and you can visit Tokyo’s Butterbeer Bar inside.
Or, why not head to Harajuku Plaza and buy some treats at the Chiikawa Bakery?
If you love Snoopy, you must also visit Kiddy Land in Harakuju, as they have an entire floor called ‘Snoopy Town’ filled with inspired gifts.
