Alaska Airlines announced new nonstop flights from Seattle to Rome starting in May 2026.
SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines announced Tuesday it will start offering a nonstop flight to Rome next year.
It’s the first nonstop flight from Seattle to Italy, and Rome is the largest European destination that’s not currently served with nonstop service from Seattle, according to the Seattle-based airline.
“Rome has been at the top of the list ever since we announced our new global gateway out of Seattle,” Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said in a statement. “Our guests have been asking for an easy way to get to Italy for years, and we’re thrilled to provide it to people in the Northwest and beyond.”
Flights will begin in May 2026, and tickets go on sale beginning this fall. Alaska plans to offer a 6 p.m. flight to Rome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. A return flight to Seattle will be offered at 3:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
This is the third widebody, international flight that Alaska will offer out of Seattle. Alaska previously launched service to Tokyo Narita on May 12 and plans to begin service to Seoul Incheon on Sept. 12.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has been growing as a global destination. Just two years ago, only 25 airlines operated international routes from SEA Airport. By the end of 2025, that number will rise to 30.
By the end of this year, SEA will offer nonstop service to 34 international cities, including Copenhagen, Zurich, and Seoul. In 2024, the airport added direct flights to Toronto, Munich, Taipei, and Manila.
