A water main break caused a “large sinkhole” to form at a Bellevue intersection. The road will reopen in all directions on Tuesday morning.
BELLEVUE, Wash. — Water service has been restored to a Bellevue neighborhood where a water main break led to the formation of a “large sinkhole” on Monday morning.
The main broke at the intersection of 148th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 20th Street, north of the Bellevue Highlands, near the Redmond city line. Crews were called to the area at around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Utility crews have completed repairs and restored water service to all nearby businesses, according to City of Bellevue officials on Monday night.
The road will reopen in all directions for the Tuesday morning commute, officials said, though drivers should expect rough road conditions. Construction will continue in the coming weeks for permanent repairs.
Officials urge drivers to use caution when traveling in the area.
Electric service was impacted while crews worked to repair the main break and the sinkhole that opened up in the intersection.
