Bruce Lee, CTO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, has switched his social media device, and it is a brand-new model with no name, indicating that this could be the upcoming Pura 80. Top Huawei officials have early access to the device, and they drop such hints before the final release of new smartphones.
According to current leaks and rumors, the company could choose June for the earliest unveiling date, but an official announcement is yet to arrive.
Huawei usually releases its P-series smartphones in the first half of the year. In 2024, the company renamed the lineup as Pura and introduced the Pura 70 series. Last year, Huawei chose April as the month of unveiling, and this year, it’s a different story that is not related to the manufacturing phase. Instead, it’s related to other releases.
In March, Huawei unveiled Pura X, the first ever 16:10 widescreen foldable, which runs on home-grown HarmonyOS operating system.

Last month, the company launched the fully functional foldable notebook PC, MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. This launch event was co-shared by the Nova 14 series. So, it was a pretty busy launch season with two major device unveilings. Therefore, the Pura 80 chose a separate occasion from its predecessor.
Previous information shows that the Pura 80 will come with a 50 megapixel SmartSense camera system alongside a 50MP 1/1.3-inch telephoto camera. Both of these lenses will utilize an RYYB array to improve the light intake to the image sensor. Its top model will sport a high-resolution full-depth micro-curved screen.
Recently, the prototype of the phone was leaked by Huawei Consumer BG CEO, He Gang, with a large camera opening, but the design was identical to the previous model.
