Huawei has already introduced two major foldable devices this year, and a third one, Mate X7 could come later in 2025 with a big battery upgrade.
According to the tipster DigitalChatStation, Huawei’s new foldable will pack a dual-cell battery design, including a 3590mAh and a 1805mAh on each side. Combined, this capacity is rated 5395mAh, and the typical value is 5500mAh.
The tiptser didn’t mention the phone’s name, which is an obvious thing to do, but the dual-cell design could only be adopted for the Mate X7, a side-folding smartphone.
This will succeed last year’s Mate X6 with a 5110mAh battery on the standard and a 5200mAh battery on the collector’s edition. It also supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Over the past two years, foldable phones have gained significant momentum among customers, and Mate X6 has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of this demand.

The core attraction of a side foldable is its display system. The Mate X6 has two screens, the inner panel provides you tablet-like wide viewing experience, and the cover display lets you interact without unfolding the cover.
The inner screen expands at 7.93-inches with 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. The cover screen measures at 6.45-inches with 3D quad-curved OLED with adaptive refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate.
Despite being a foldable device, the Mate X6 comes with a flagship camera system, including a 50MP main lens with variable aperture technology. The second one is a 40MP ultra-wide-angle and a 48MP telephoto macro camera with RYYB matrix.
Huawei has not revealed anything about its Mate X7 or its battery, but it’s expected that this foldable will be announced alongside the Mate 80 series in the second half of this year.
