Huawei’s MatePad Mini tablet bags new HarmonyOS 6 features
Huawei is pushing a new update for the MatePad Mini tablet, bringing new HarmonyOS 6 features on top of its existing range of capabilities. This 8.8-inch MatePad Mini is a versatile tablet. Its 5.1mm thin body makes it handy, while the 255g weight supports long-term use cases.
The tablet ships with pre-installed HarmonyOS 5.1 software and recently received HarmonyOS 6 via OTA update. This upgrade brings a whole new user experience and system improvements. However, Huawei is keen on making this tablet more useful with another feature pack.
According to the changelog, the MatePad Mini is receiving HarmonyOS 6.0.0.120SP6, upgrading from 6.0.0.115SP10. The MatePad Mini (MLR-AL10) and MLR-AL10 are announced as two eligible models.
The update introduces a new app center, accessible with a swipe-up gesture on the home screen. With the App Center, you can search for all apps by their first letter. Once updated, users can manage the number of recent apps on the app dock.
Huawei has added new themes – Cosmic Planets to the tablet, featuring seven planets and seven variations. These themes feature unique textures, bumps, and lighting settings for each planet. These traits are combined with the slow-motion camera movement as soon as you unlock the phone.
Moreover, users can now set animated GIFs as lock screen live wallpapers, bringing more customization. The Gallery app now supports the cloud photos synchronization feature. This will help users to free up space, while having access to photographs all of the time through the Gallery app.
Huawei is finally seeding the cross-platform file sharing to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. MatePad Mini users can send videos, animated images, contracts, and other content through Huawei Share.
The latest HarmonyOS 6 features for MatePad Mini also improve privacy and security. You can now block in-app ad redirects for a cleaner app experience. This update is rolling out in batches and will soon cover all MatePad Mini tablets.
