WASHINGTON — Michelle Trachtenberg’s cause of death has been revealed.
According to multiple media outlets, The New York City Medical Examiner’s office revealed that the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl” star died from complications with diabetes after performing a toxicology tests.
Trachtenberg’s family had objected to an autopsy, which the medical examiner’s office honored because there was no evidence of criminality.
The news comes months after the medical examiner’s office had said the cause of death was “undetermined.” Trachtenberg was found dead in her Manhattan apartment in February at the age of 39.
Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 a.m. at a 51-story luxury apartment tower in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood where officers found Trachtenberg “unconscious and unresponsive,” according to an NYPD statement. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police have said no foul play is suspected in the star’s death.
Trachtenberg, born on Oct. 11, 1985, began appearing in TV commercials at the age of 3 and even landed a recurring role as Lily Montgomery on the soap drama “All of My Children.”
She starred in several children’s shows and movies including “Harriet the Spy” and “Inspector Gadget,” before landing a breakout role as Dawn in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Gellar, Taylor Momsen and Blake Lively were among the celebrities who mourned Trachtenberg when her Feb. 26 death was announced.
