One of the most popular “Best books” of the year posts has arrived. NPR has dropped their interactive guide to over 380 of the best books of 2025, as selected by both NPR staffers and trusted critics across the book world.

NPR’s Books We Love 2025 list is broken down into dozens of categories, inviting users to peruse picks based on the topics, genres, or categories they’re interested in. You can dive into NPR Staff picks, as well as great picks for book clubs. There are options to check out the best of historical fiction, young adult, sports picks, and more. The ability to drill down across multiple categories makes finding “best of” picks with more highly specific interests is possible.

Because the list is so expansive, there are books among the “best of” picks that other outlets could not include due to space or may have simply missed.
