Heart Month may be coming to a close, but Apple Watch continues to save lives.
The latest story comes out of Austin, Texas. Mike Gomez credits the Apple Watch with helping to save his life after receiving a number of irregular heart rate notifications and an Afib detection alert.
Because Gomez took action based on feedback from his Apple Watch, he was informed enough to make the decision to seek medical assistance at the hospital. These early signs of a heart health issue likely prevented Gomez from experiencing a stroke.

Apple Watch is capable of monitoring your heart rate in the background while wearing it. If your heart rate spikes or drops, heart rate notifications can alert you and bring it to your attention.
Apple Watch Series 4 and later as well as Apple Watch Ultra 1 and later include the ECG app for taking an electrocardiogram. Both Apple Watch SE models support heart rate notifications, but lack ECG.
watchOS 11, the latest version of Apple Watch software, supports Apple Watch Series 6 and higher, Apple Watch Ultra 1 and higher, and the second generation Apple Watch SE.
