Xiaomi will release an app with native HarmonyOS support

Xiaomi is preparing a native HarmonyOS version of connected home devices app that will soon be available for all Huawei devices.

The Xiaomi Home app has more than 261 categories of connected accessories and smart home appliances and over 6,000 models. The app has well over 527 million active devices across the world, the majority of them belongs to Chinese consumers.

This app was expected to be ported over HarmonyOS, but Xiaomi is reluctant on this matter in public perception. Given these scenarios, some Huawei users are missing this app on their new native HarmonyOS smartphones. A report from last year indicates that the company could launch the Xiaomi Home app with a pure HarmonyOS version soon.

In the following month, a Xiaomi customer service representative revealed that Huawei phones with HarmonyOS NEXT cannot use the Xiaomi Home app for now, but both firms are actively engaging in this development and adaptation will be completed soon.

Since then, the app is not available for this operating system, the Huawei phone users are finding alternative solutions to control their connected devices. Some of these also reached to Huawei support, which confirmed that the Xiaomi Home app is still under development for HarmonyOS 5, and it could launch as soon as June 2025.

To be mentioned, the Android version of the app is already available for download.
