Today we’re diving into everything you need to know about the Ninja FlexFlame Griddle. How to season it, cook on it and keep it clean.
Choosing Your Griddle
You’ve got two options: the half griddle or the full griddle. Both are made of carbon steel, which means they need to be seasoned before you start flipping bacon or smash burgers.
Step 1: Seasoning the Griddle
Start by rinsing your griddle with warm, soapy water. Dry it off completely using a paper towel or regular towel.
Then rub a thin layer of oil on it. Canola or any high-heat oil works great.
To install the half griddle on your Ninja FlexFlame, remove one grill grate. If you’re right-handed, place it on the left side. Lefty? Go right. The drain hole can face the front or back. I usually place it toward the front.
Don’t forget to pop in a clean tray liner in the grease tray.
Preheat the FlexFlame to 500F on the grill setting. Add 1–2 tablespoons more oil to the griddle and rub it around with a paper towel using tongs. Let it heat up for 5-10 minutes.
Now, technically, Ninja says to let it cool and repeat. But I’m all about shortcuts. Toss on some bacon and start cooking. Bacon grease is nature’s nonstick coating.
Step 2: Cooking on the Griddle
Once seasoned, you’re ready to cook. Use the roast/bake function between 350–425F, depending on what you’re making. The griddle comes with a handy chart that includes several different meal ideas.
You can cook with the lid up or down. Just know that closing the lid speeds things up, thanks to the fan.
Step 3: Cleaning the Griddle
After cooking, while the griddle is still hot, scrape the grease into the drain hole. If food is stuck on, use a scraper. You can add a splash of water for really stubborn spots, but turn off the burners first.
Once clean, add a bit more oil if needed, then let it cool and store it.
The half griddle fits neatly in the cabinet. The full griddle is trickier. It’s too long for the side storage, but it can rest in front of the tank on top of the tank divider bar. Just be aware it’ll block the storage.
Keep your Ninja FlexFlame Griddle seasoned and it’ll be your go-to for everything from crispy bacon and eggs to hibachi-style dinners.
