About the College

Hon’ble (Late) Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb established Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College Sangli (MS) in 1997 to impart quality legal education and training to students in the western Maharashtra. The vision of the college is “Quality legal education for professional competencies and social transformation”.

About the Theme

The Critique competition provides an opportunity for the students of UG only to critically evaluate the burning, debatable and recent socio-legal issues in the country. Today the issue of ‘Election Process in India’ is highly scuffled. There are various sub-themes which are being rumored & discussed in society. We are eager to hear the views of the youth who are major and influential stakeholders of the country.

1. First Screening Round- Participants are advised to submit written script of critiques on any of the sub-themes, around 3500 words including personal details, abstract (200 words) and references.

Font- Times New Roman, size-12, margin all side- 2.54 cm, spacing-1.5, references- endnotes, bluebook 20th edition.

2. Second Round– Participants, selected from the first round based on their scores, will have to present online and answer to a panel of judges on 13/01/2026. The presentation time is 7 minutes and 3 minutes for question-answer.

General Rules

  • Slang or abusive words in script or presentation cannot be used.
  • Competition is for UG students only.
  • Language- only English for written script and English or Hindi for presentation.
  • Written script must be original and without plagiarism (not above 10%).
  • Critique can be justified based on factual data, study reports, case laws, and govt records.
  • Organizer intends to publish a proceeding book with ISBN. Selected participants will be informed by email after the competition.
  • Judges’ decision shall be final.
  • All rights relating to competition are reserved with the organizer.

Send a word file of written script to [email protected] on or before 05/01/2026.

Fee

No registration fee. However, for e-certificate of participation in either first or second round, participant must pay Rs. 250 to UPI number 8888758922.

  • 1st prize- Rs. 5000/ and e-certificate
  • 2nd prize- Rs. 3000/ and e-certificate
  • 3rd prize- Rs. 2000/ and e-certificate
