I am really glad that the baby food series in yummy tummy is really helpful for many of you. Daily i am getting tons and tons of mails from viewers asking to post more baby food recipes. So decided to post 2 post each week, the post will be live on each monday. This is my post for this week, also check out the second recipe which is a banana porridge made using this powder.Â

 Now coming back to today’s baby food. It is made from raw banana which is also known as nendran, raw plantain, raw banana. This is a typical baby food in kerala. If you are looking for baby food ideas which helps in weight gaining in your babies, then this is best one. It helps in healthy weight gaining in babies.
About Raw Banana powderÂ
As soon as i mentioned that i will post banana powder recipe for babies, i got so many mails asking to post them immediately. But i was difficult to find time to post it, finally i managed to get banana powder recipe and banana porridge recipe up at the same time..
This powder is so healthy, it helps in healthy weight gaining in your babies. Normally we feed ragi porridge for babies, and i am sure that babies will get bored because of the same food. So in order to make their food interesting and different, you can follow what i normally do.
I feed ragi porridge on one day, the next day i go for oats and apple porridge, then the next day i go for banana porridge, then i go for barley and apple porridge(recipe soon). This way your baby wont get bored of the same food. I am still looking for new food ideas for my baby. You can drop me a mail or comment if you have any recipes to share.

Things to remember before making this powder:
- Make sure you dry the banana well before grinding it.
- Always make small batches, so the powder stays fresh always.Â
- You can store the powder in a air tight container in fridge too.
- This porridge can be given for babies who are above 6 months. Â
- This banana powder doesn’t cause constipation in babies.
- The consistency of the porridge which you make totally depends on you. You can make it too runnier and pour it bottles and feed your baby or make it little thicker and feed your baby using a spoon.
- I use panakarkandu or karupatti as sweetener. Karupatti strengthens your baby bones. Panakarkandu helps preventing cold for your babies. You can even mix up a small piece of both.
- If you feed a good bowl of this for your baby. Your baby will sleep peacefully for a good 2 to 3 hours. It is that filling.

Ingredients Â
For Making Raw Banana Powder
For Making Porridge
- 2 tablespoon Raw Banana powder
- 1 tablespoon Palm Sugar
- ¼+¼ cup Water
InstructionsÂ
For Making Raw Banana Powder

Take very raw, firm, big banana.

Cut both the ends off. Use a knife and make deep slashes on the banana all over the skin. Now peel them.

Then use a slicer to slice them into rough slices.

Arrange them on a plate and place it in the sun for a good couple of days or untill it is completely dry.

Now take them in a blender and powder them.Use a fine sieve to sift it.Store in an air tight container.
For Making Raw Banana Porridge

Take a clean saucepan, add in 1 tablespoon of karupatti. Now pour ¼ cup of clean water. Heat this up and cook until the karupatti is melted.

Now take a clean bowl and add 2 scoops of banana powder. Add some clean water and mix it up till smooth.

Now place a fine mesh strainer over the bowl and Sieve the karupatti liquid through this. Mix this well.

I washed the saucepan in the meantime. Now pour this liquid again in the saucepan. Heat this on a low flame stiring continuously.

Cook this for around 2 mins till the banana is cooked and thicken.

Take it off the heat, allow it to cool down and transfer it to feeding bowl or feeding bottle and feed your baby..
Notes
- The consistency of the porridge which you make totally depends on you. You can make it too runnier and pour it bottles and feed your baby or make it little thicker and feed your baby using a spoon.
- I use panakarkandu or karupatti as sweetener. Karupatti strengthens your baby bones. Panakarkandu helps preventing cold for your babies. You can even mix up a small piece of both.

- This won’t cause constipation in babies. I am feeding this every alternate days to maha and she is passing stool daily. Â
