Google is making every effort to increase the security of smartphones with Android 16, and one such attempt seems to be the Intrusion Detection tool. The new addition will detect suspicious activities across your account or other linked devices.
In recent times, Google has keenly focused on improved security aspects of the device. After the Advanced Protection Mode, Android 16 may also bring Intrusion Detection.
Android Authority has performed a teardown of the Play Services APK file and found that the next major upgrade may feature Intrusion Detection. It keeps a secure log of device and network activities when it detects suspicious activities in the phone.
It keeps an eye on activities like USB events, app installations, Bluetooth connections, lock screen details, Wi-Fi, and even browsing history. Don’t worry, as this log remains end-to-end encrypted and stored on a “private and encrypted” Google Drive.
Some strings of the Google Play Services (version 25.18.31) reveal that only the user can decrypt the log using their Google account password and device lock screen.
Thus, you can check this log system whenever you sense any suspicious activity on your handset. It is perfect at times you have stored confidential data in the device.
Further details hint that the new feature will be part of Advanced Protection Mode in Android 16 and won’t be available to older versions. Hence, you need to upgrade to the latest software build to experience the new feature.
