Apple Watch Series 11 Could Get ‘Apple Intelligence’ Boost: All We Know So Far

While iPhone 17 leaks have been making waves for months, details about the next-generation Apple Watch have remained relatively scarce. However, with Apple’s annual September hardware event approaching, buzz around the Apple Watch Series 11 is picking up. This year, alongside the new iPhones, Apple is expected to unveil the Watch Series 11, and the latest leak hints at a major upgrade—support for Apple Intelligence, potentially bringing smarter features to the wearable.

Apple Watch has been the only major device left out of the Apple Intelligence rollout introduced at WWDC 2024, with iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks already updated. However, a report from The Verifier claims that watchOS 12 will finally bring Apple Intelligence to Apple Watches. Still, due to the AI feature’s minimum requirement of 8GB RAM—far above the current Apple Watch’s 1GB—only newer models are expected to support it.

Going by the report, Apple is developing a special chip for the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3, which may be the first smartwatch to support Apple Intelligence features, with other models potentially following a year later.

However, it’s expected that the entire new lineup, including the Apple Watch Series 11, will also receive AI support. These features could include GenMoji creation, smarter Siri with health data analysis, and notification summaries. Additionally, watchOS 12 is rumored to bring a visionOS-inspired redesign with a more transparent, floating UI, refreshed icons, menus, buttons, and an updated home screen for a modern, cohesive look.

A report suggests that Apple is developing future Apple Watch models with built-in cameras, aiming for a 2027 launch to enhance AI integration through Apple Intelligence. For the regular Series, the camera could be embedded in the display, while the Ultra model may place it near the digital crown for easier use and object scanning. These cameras are expected to power features like Visual Intelligence, which can recognize objects and landmarks in real time, offering users more advanced and interactive experiences.
