Just when we thought we’d seen the last of Dexter Morgan, he’s back—and not just in spirit. Showtime has unveiled the first official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection, and it confirms what fans have long speculated: Dexter survived.
Premiering July 11, 2025, on Paramount+ with Showtime, Dexter: Resurrection picks up just weeks after the explosive ending of Dexter: New Blood. Despite being shot by his son Harrison, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is alive and on the run. The trailer hints at a dark, emotional quest as Dexter sets out to find Harrison in the sprawling chaos of New York City.
Meanwhile, Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas), one of Miami Metro’s most familiar faces, is hot on his trail—suggesting that Dexter’s return might not go unnoticed for long.
Joining the already compelling story are a number of big-name stars, including Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, and Neil Patrick Harris. The trailer also teases the return of two fan-favorite characters: James Remar as Harry Morgan and John Lithgow as the chilling Trinity Killer.
With Clyde Phillips—showrunner of the original Dexter series—back at the helm, Dexter: Resurrection promises to return the franchise to its gritty, psychological roots, while introducing new layers and characters for a fresh multi-season arc.
For longtime fans and new viewers alike, this trailer confirms one thing: the Dark Passenger is far from done.
