
Tuesday 05 December, 2023, Vancouvers BC Place Stadium was renamed (for one day) "Christine Sinclair Place" in recognition of Sinclairs’ retirement from the Canadian Women’s Soccer Team.
Note the #12, Sinclair’s jersey number, displayed on the bowl edge in red between the Canadian flag panels.
The stadium this night hosted a friendly match between Australia & Canada teams. The world’s greatest international scorer took her bow in a 1-0 victory over Australia on Tuesday before 48,000+ fans.
Sinclair has a storied history in the soccer world.
She played in six Women’s World Cups and scored in five of them.
Sinclair is an Olympic gold medallist, two-time Olympic bronze medallist, CONCACAF champion, and 14-time winner of the Canada Soccer Player of the Year award,
Sinclair is the world’s all-time leader for international goals scored for men or women with 190 goals, and is one of the most-capped active international soccer players.
