The most challenging section of the track as a long, curving, Uphill stretch, drops off blindly at the top and presents the driver with this downslope S curve……and people Pass here!! You have to know the track well to pull that off. Here is a line of late 50s racers led here by a Lotus 11, followed by a ’59 Tipo 61 Maserati Birdcage, then the ’57 Maserati 450S, the ’58 Devin bodied, Corvette Special, another Lotus 11 and finally, the Formidable D Jag of Ecurie Ecosse (French for Scotland Stable) running this sister to the Winner at Le Mans in ’56 and ’57, in it’s Scottish colors of blue and white, the tiny team – based at Merchiston Mews in Edinburgh – defied all the odds to topple established giants such as Ferrari, Aston Martin and Maserati to claim that stunning 1-2 finish.
Following the historic back-to-back wins at Le Mans, the team would go on to record an astonishing 68 racing victories in just 10 seasons.
I know you didn’t really need that useless bit of history, but it is INTERESTING.
