Detail from Edwardian stained glass from St Elvan’s parish church, Aberdare. It is dedicated to a former vicar and dated 1934. The picture shows the episode from the New Testament where Simon (Peter) is called by Jesus to follow him. The other apostles in the picture may include Andrew (Simon’s brother), or may represent James and John repairing their nets. Traditionally John is portrayed as clean shaven. The window seems to be the work of Celtic Studios of Swansea dates from around 1952
