Alex Colville passed away on July 16, 2013 at the age of 92.
There was a memorial service for him in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. He will be remembered as one of Canada’s finest artists.

This photo was taken in Amherst, Nova Scotia where he lived as a youth. When I took this photo I couldn’t help but think of his famous painting "Horse and Train" (1954). alexcolville.ca/gallery/alex_colville_1954_horse_and_train/
I met him once as I was changing a flat tire in a cold, slushy Wolfville parking lot. He said, "you appear to have a flat tire!", then he wished me luck. He was a great man.
